I have never used my Virgin phone line, but recognise it's a necessary-but-useless part of my broadband/TV package,
A letter from Virgin says I must get a technician visit before next month or I'll not be able to make calls. They invite me to phone them to fix up a visit.
There are life-sapping waits on the line. Finally get through, but I fail security question number 6 "day of the month direct debit gets taken". I could find out the date, but then I'd have to call back…..
So the question is - is my continued TV/broadband service dependent on a technician's visit ? I'd be perfectly happy to lose ability to use the phone (and yes, I know I'd have to keep paying for it!).

Hi Mkfella,
Thanks for posting this brilliant question on the forums, I totally understand why you're a little uncertain as to whether it's a needed aspect of your services.
At the moment I guess you're just using the landline aspect of your package as a "discount" because that's exactly how our packages work - If you removed it it would increase your prices, so you're happy to just not use the landline which is absolutely fine. A lot of people do this!
Although we would like to move everyone's landlines over to the digital version via the home phone switchover to make sure all areas of the UK are moved into the future, you don't need to do it if you don't actually use your landline.
So no it won't affect your broadband or TV if you don't get this switch done, you'll just lose the option to use your landline which you already don't use.
If in future you do want to start using the landline for whatever reason, you just need to let us know so we can begin the migration and get an engineer booked - Which we can do on the forums, so no need to call.
I hope this answers your question!
Thanks,
