Crackling on landline

I can make and receive calls but in recent days an annoying crackling can be heard at both ends of the line. Nothing has changed since the current setup was installed in 2015. I've been through the online help pages without gleaning anything that's assisted.

Hi @TwickenhamUser,

Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first posts.

Sorry to hear you have been having ongoing cracking on the line. We can understand the inconvenience caused and we want to best help. How long has the cracking been ongoing? Have you checked your cabled connections to see if they are secure and in good condition? Have you also tried running line tests here virg.in/service?

Please get back to us when you can.

Thanks,

The connection seems OK and hasn't been interfered with at all. Virg.in/service is returning error 404 / API error at the moment but I was there before posting my original message and it reported no faults in my area. Is there a way of triggering a test on my specific installation ?

Hi @TwickenhamUser

Thank you for your reply

I am going to drop you a private message now to collect some more information, please keep an eye on your inbox for a message from myself.

Thanks for confirming your details via private message @TwickenhamUser.
I have arranged the appointment, and you can track your engineer appointments online. Simply sign into My Virgin Media and you will see your appointments on your account dashboard. However, this can take up to 24 hours to be updated.

An engineer came yesterday, by which time the line wasn't working at all, and identified a problem external to our house and installation. Seemingly related to wires becoming flooded after recent rain. The issue is now resolved.

Hey there @TwickenhamUser, thank you for the update.

I'm glad to here that the fault has been resolved and that the services are now working.
As always - if you ever have an issue, feel free to reach out to us and we'll always pick this up.

Kind regards.
