Compatibility of BT 8610 after January

I've received the emails re the switch to fiber on January. I have a BT8610 call blocking answer phone which has an extension in my bedroom. Will the extension now be useless?

Thank you for taking the time to raise your landline query regarding the upcoming changes, we appreciate the confusion caused and are happy to help. 

For this particular issues we can arrange for a technician to attend and wire in the extension for you, as this isn't happening till January we can't book them this far in advance so if you let us know nearer the time we'll be happy to arrange it then.

Does that entail running a cable inside the house on skirting or can it be done discreetly?
