Cannot receive incoming calls.

When people are trying to ring our home phone they are getting a ringing tone but it is not coming through to our phone.  We can ring out fine and our number shows up on caller id.   People just cannot get through to us on the land-line

I have checked for known faults on-line but none are showing up and we have checked the phone is on and working.

The last call we received was on Tuesday from a BT scam saying that our line would be disconnected if we did not press 1.  Not sure if this could be connected. (We did not press any buttons, the call was picked up by our answer phone).  We have rang out on the line since this call in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Cannot receive incoming calls.

Hi stocst,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the community forums. Sorry to hear that you were having issues with your landline phone. Is this still occurring?

  • If so, can you confirm if the ringer is switched on?
  • Also are there more than one telephone sockets in the home? If so try another socket. It might be plugged into an extension instead of the main one.

I've run remote diagnostics on your connection and was not able to identify issues.  You can also try our landline troubleshooter here https://www.virginmedia.com/help/fix-an-issue

Cheers,

Corey C
