I'm fed up with nuisance calls on my ex-directory Virgin landline.
The novelty of telling them (a) yes, I had an accident which wasn't my fault...I spilt a cup of coffee; (b) yes, my pc is switched on and the windows are open, but its very draughty and could they hurry up; yes, I am ready to accept $43,000,000 from a displaced prince in Nigeria, but could I have it in Italian lire....etc etc; has a long worn off.
Are there any hardware call blockers out there which work with Virgin as Virgin doesn't seem to allow me to set this up on my phone.
Thank you, and apologies if you really are a displaced Prince from Nigeria.
I use the trueCall standalone device and, IMHO, it is the most fully-featured. Unfortunately it is probably also the most expensive.
The BT blocker phone mentioned in the link above does have pretty much the same features but it is supplied 'as-is' as regards its default configuration.
The advantage of the separate device is that it is configurable and its configuration can be tweaked remotely by trueCall support if there are any technical issues relating to particular individual phone line spec's (such as caller ID problems, issues with ringing etc.)
You can read the trueCall blocker manual here which explains how it works and processes the calls to decide which to let through to your phone.
