Call Divert

I have recently set up a call divert set up on my home phone to my mobile.

My latest bill is £20+ with the transferred phone calls.

The only calls I have had are scam calls, if I notice the number is bogus I block the call, if the number look genuine I answer. All have been a scam calls, I hang up straight away but have been charged on my bill for 30 minutes, 22 minutes 18 minutes.

I know I have hung up on my mobile, has anyone else had this issue?

Could there be a problem with the call still being live on the call even though it is hung up?

Or is the scam call charging me for answering?

I have taken the divert off until this is sorted out.

Re: Call Divert

Hi Lardy0114, thanks for contacting us and sorry to hear that you have had an issue with the landline, the divert feature will transfer all calls to the mobile. Are you currently getting scam calls to the landline before the divert was activated? Chris

Re: Call Divert

Yes. I havent given my number out. At first they were asking for the previous owner of the number a Mr Hewitt.

Now its just the automated calls.

Re: Call Divert

Could it be that the automated calls dont hang up. Although I hang up on the mobile the home phone will still be connected and transferring the call.

I know the incoming call keeps the line open until they hang up.

If so that means Im still getting charged for a call that effectively diconnected at my end but open at theirs.

This is something that could be very easily replicated.

Re: Call Divert

Hi Lardy0114, there are two options available to you, one would be to change the number but be aware that numbers are circulated and cannot guarantee that this may not happen in the future. The other is registering with true call ^Chris

Re: Call Divert

So Im given a number that already gets scam calls. Which have racked up my phone bill by using one of your products, through no fault of my own.

Now your advising me to buy a product to stop the calls.

So Ill be further out of pocket.

Does that make sense to you??

Re: Call Divert

All numbers are re-circulated as no new landline numbers get produced. We can look at changing the number for you ^Chris

Re: Call Divert

Theres no point doing that if there is no guarantee that it is a clean number.

Has anyone at vm tested my theory of the call being continued when the mobile is hung up. But the call is still open on the line.

This needs to be established otherwise it could be a large issue with other users that may not have noticed it.

The extra call charges on my bill since having the divert activated needs to be looked at if this the issue.

Why should I be paying extra for something that looks to be a technical issue.

This needs to be fully investigated.

Re: Call Divert

When I hang up on my mobile the call isn't terminated, it then goes to my voicemail. Perhaps thats what is happening to you?
