1471 No longer works on our home phone, after a recent planned Virgin upgrade in our area.

I can see many people have the same problem

Having made numerous calls to 150, including the complaints team this morning, but I just seem to get fobbed off every time.

Twice I have been told by the faults team that it has been resolved, wait 4 hours, but still not working

Can anyone help?

We're eager to assist with your issue, sorry to see the 1471 service no longer works after your latest upgrade and the experience you've had over your previous calls with our team.
We are expecting a better level of service for our customers than what you've described above, can you please tell us how long it's been since you've had this upgrade and what happens when calling 1471 from your VM landline? Do you get an error message or is it just dead when dialling out 1471?

I get a message saying "that the service is not available on this line"

The planned maintenance work was carried out last week and resulted in a total loss of all Virgin Media services for 2 days, then when the services returned, we subsequently found that we could make calls, but not receive any, this has now been sorted after an engineer visit. 

We now don't have the caller number displayed, when the phone rings, and the 1471 service no longer works either.

So now we cannot screen nuisance calls, which we had 2 of in the first 2 hours of the incoming call's fault being resolved.

The technical department can see the issue, and 1471 has been turned off, and say they have rectified it, but it still doesn't work

Any help would be much appreciated

I'm sorry that your 1471 service still isn't working for you after your latest call into the team, I have looked into this for you and been able to re-add the service to your line, please can you check the feature now, it should be working for you now.

Thank you, I have just checked, and yes, 1471 works again now 🙂

Unfortunately, the phone still just displays "incoming call" rather than displaying the caller's phone number when it rings.

But at least with 1471 now working again we can decide if we want to answer it and check afterwards who has called.
