Spoiler
Hi, and welcome to Virgin Media. Today I'm going to show you how to connect a V6 or TiVo box to a Virgin Media Hub, using the Powerline kits we offer. This setup works with any of our TV boxes powered by TiVo. Virgin Media TV boxes need to be connected to a Hub so you can have the ability to watch recordings on any box in your home, no matter which one they're stored on. You'll be able to pause what you're watching too, even live TV, and press play again in a different room. It's always best to put both units close together so that you can use an Ethernet cable to connect them. But if your Hub can't live next to your TV box, don't worry. You can use a Powerline to connect them. First you'll need to link your first set of Powerline adaptors. Take one adaptor and plug one end of the Ethernet cable into it. You will hear a click sound like this... ...and take the other end and plug it into the back of your Hub. Then plug the adaptor into the wall socket. It's important not to use an extension lead. Next you'll need to take your second adaptor and plug it into another wall socket. It doesn't matter if the two adaptors aren't next to each other, as long as they're in the same room. Make sure that both sockets are switched on. Leave them for a minute to work their magic and now they're linked. Now you'll need to secure the Powerline network. It's really quick to do and it means that your network is safe and only available to people in your household. To do this, just press and hold the security button on one of the adaptors for two seconds. The power light will start to flash. You now have two minutes to do the same to the other adaptor. Your second adaptor light will start to flash as the two adaptors link. When both lights stop flashing, your network is secure. Then you can unplug the second adaptor and take it to your TV box, wherever it is in the house. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the adaptor... ...and the other end into the back of your box. Then simply plug your adaptor into the wall socket and switch on the power. If the Pick A Plug light doesn't come on, or it lights up red, you'll need to choose a different socket. Once it lights up amber or green, you're done. I'll now show you how to connect another TV box, powered by TiVo, somewhere else in your house to your Hub. First you'll need another Powerline adaptor. Plug it into a wall socket near one of your existing Powerlines. Then press and hold the security button on one of the original adaptors in your network for two seconds. The power light will start to flash. You now have two minutes to do the same on your new adaptor. When both lights stop flashing, the new Powerline has been added and your network is secure. You can now take the new Powerline adaptor, plug it into a wall socket and connect it to your TV box using an Ethernet cable. You can do this as many times as you like, using additional Powerline adaptors to connect to other TV boxes powered by TiVo. To find out more, just visit our online "Help and Support" area, and search for Powerline, and that's it. Thanks for watching.
