Hi and welcome to Virgin Media. Today I'm going to show you how to program your TiVo remote to control your TV. You'll be able to use it for standby, volume, and mute, as well as controlling your TiVo box. First, you need to search all the codes in the TiVo remote database. This will help a TiVo remote work together with your TiVo box. To do this, press the 'Home' button at the top of the remote, scroll down to 'Help & Settings,' then choose 'Help.' You'll need to wait a few seconds for the screen to come up. Then find the little remote control icon that looks like this at the top of the screen. Scroll up to this using the up arrow, and then scroll across using the right arrow. Then press 'OK,' 'OK,' and 'OK' again. And then follow the on-screen instructions as we go along. Now press and hold the 'Clear' and 'TV' buttons at the same time. Make sure you cover the infrared part of the remote control so it doesn't change the channel as you're doing this. You can do this by using your hands and your thumbs, like this. Press and hold the buttons and the LED at the top of your remote will flash green twice. Now enter 0-9-9-9 using the keypad and the LED at the top of your remote will flash green twice. Your remote is ready to search for a code that will work with your TV. Pointing the remote at the TV, press and hold the 'Channel Up' button. Each time a code is sent you'll see the LED flash green. Keep 'Channel Up' pressed until one of the codes turns the TV off. When it turns off, release 'Channel up' and press the 'Standby' button on the remote holding it down for 5 seconds. This will turn the TV back on. You need to check 'Volume' and 'Mute" work, so use the 'Volume' and 'Mute' buttons to check the remote works with your TV. Once you've done this, press the 'OK' button. This will store the code in your remote. The LED will flash green twice once accepted. You can also work backwards through the code database. Pressing 'Channel Down' lets you do this if you miss a code. If you reach the end of the database the LED will show a long red light, then exit 'Programming Mode.' If you don't find a code that works with your TV you'll have to use the TV remote control to adjust the volume. Don't forget you can find more help and handy hints by heading to the 'Help' area on your TiVo box. That's it! We hope this was useful.
