Re: Xbox one disconnecting/ issue finding games

It might be worth trying the hub in modem mode to see if that makes any difference.  Sometimes the VM hubs in router mode are poor at UPNP routing of traffic to consoles and in modem mode you bypass that and all traffic goes to the console.  This is just a suggested test to see if it makes a difference rather than a long term solution as in modem mode you have no WiFi.

If modem mode doesn't help and you want help from the community you could post some hub stats here or you can wait a few days for the VM staff to get to this thread in a few days.

To get hub stats go to http://192.168.0.1/ (or http://192.168.100.1/ if you are in modem mode) to get the VM hub GUI. Don't login (unless you have a Hub 3 and this is your first visit to the hub GUI, which does require you to login) but instead click on Router Status which is either a button in the top right of the screen or a text link at the bottom of the screen depending on which hub you have. Click on the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log sections and copy & paste the figures from those screens and post them here, don't worry about the formatting or you can post screenshots if that is easier. If using screenshots be careful to edit out or obscure any reference to your WAN IP or MAC address in the log to protect your privacy.  If you copy and paste the log then the forum will automatically censor this sensitive information.

The community can have a look for you and see if anything in the figures looks wrong and advise accordingly.

Re: Xbox one disconnecting/ issue finding games

It wouldn’t let me post it all as one reply. Thanks for your response anyway, I can’t really use the modem mode as other people use the wifi. I just ran the digngostic tool and it said my network has a few issues but doesn’t say what or what will fix it. Last night I waited half an hour to find a game and once it finished it kicked me back to menu to re search and wait another 25 minutes it was fine on the guest network but now even that’s doing the same thing

I would guess that's because the XBox was using IPv6 when on the BT circuit.  I have 2 XBox's at home, both using IPv6 and don't have any issues.

However I did notice you have some noise ingress, that's the PostRS errors, so it might be a good idea to check all you VM cables are tight and there are no unterminated ends anywhere on the incoming VM circuit.

At the end of the day, you might get an improvement using wired. I would not recommend WiFi for gaming, in fact if you can cable something, do it 🙂

If that BT router can can be setup to turn off the ADSL modem functions and just operate as a wireless router then it might be an option with the hub in modem mode.

The Post RS errors could be significant if they are recent and increasing and not just a historical build up.  Has the hub been restarted recently?  The log doesn't appear to show a recent restart.  The "RCS Partial Service" errors in the log are not great but I'm not sure they occur regularly enough to be a concern.
