World of Warcraft random disconnections.

Hi,

I've been getting disconnected randomly from WoW Classic & Retail for some months.

I've logged this issue previously with both Blizzard & Virgin & some investigation was done, but the cause of the problem was not identified & so I've had to put up with it.

I've tried all the troubleshooting tips on the Blizzard site to no avail & a BB monitor did not show any packet loss to coincide with the disconnections.

Is there anything else that can be done to fix this issue please?

Thanks.

Re: World of Warcraft random disconnections.

Mate all over the UK this is happening - Everybody is complaining about random disconnections for a week. Look at their twitter feed over the past few days, same problem. Virgin Media are just saying "hey look at the connection service status page to see if in your area there is a problem" when this problem is national, these random intermitten connection drops.

Re: World of Warcraft random disconnections.

I've had a support ticket logged simultaneously with Blizzard, who asked me to provide WinMTR logs when the disconnections occur for their analysis.

They have replied thus: -

Issue ID: # * snip *

Your ticket has received the following response:

Greetings,

I am Gleedoh. I have well considered your request : how are you today ?

Hope you are fine ! 😄

Thank for your files.
According your MTRs, we can see issues on your connection path. There are planty of packet losses from your router to the server.

Sadly, these error are out of our control and out of our scope of support. We encourage you to contact your ISP?.Inform them of the issue and do not hesitate to give them the MTRs analysis.

Regards,

Gleedoh, Game Master

Re: World of Warcraft random disconnections.

Further update from Blizzard FYI.

Gamemaster Khaleyd at your service - I'm with the dedicated tech team here at Blizzard.

Thanks for getting back in touch and letting us know about your thoughts. "Modern" and "Classic" WoW actually vary slightly in the way their connection methods works, owing to actual differences in game infrastructure.

There have been a few rare reports that certain router models combined with DS-Lite (IPv4/6 hybrid technology) setups on the connection route *may* be troublesome in that regard - your ISP would know if such a setup exists and could make the necessary alterations then.

Your help request towards them should actually be enough to get the ball rolling in that case.

Kind regards, and fingers crossed,

Thomas "Khaleyd" W.

Gamemaster Tech Team,

Blizzard Entertainment

Re: World of Warcraft random disconnections.

Virgin Media's network hops are as follows

10.228.160.1
manc-core-2a-xe-132-0.network.virginmedia.net
86.85-254-62.static.virginmediabusiness.co.uk
uk-lon03a-ri1-ae-2-0.aorta.net
213.46.175.254 (IPWHOIS says Ziggo NL which is also liberty global owned)

The following are on Blizzard Entertainment's network

ae1-br01-eqld5.as57976.net
et-0-0-2-br02-eqam1.as57976.net
137.221.78.83
185.60.112.157

I don't know what to suggest as the people who play WoW in my household who use the VM connection haven't complained of disconnects.

Re: World of Warcraft random disconnections.

Thanks hortonj88, indeed there are members of my Guild who use VM and likewise don't experience disconnections.

There are however many posts in this forum from people who are experiencing the same issue as me.

Blizzard have already knocked the ball into VM's court, by claiming packet loss is causing the problem (see posts above), that is why I have logged the issue here for VM to (hopefully 😁) investigate.

Cheers.
