Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

Today I cannot find/connect to Destiny 2 servers, I'm getting a 'destiny 2 servers not available' error when connecting. However, I can connect instantly if I connect to any VPN first. This means that you're blocking either the servers, or more likely, some of the ports that Destiny 2 uses. I'm in the CB4 Cambridge postcode area. Can you let me know when you#ll remove this block, having to use a VPN to play Destiny 2 isn't acceptable. Thanks.

I think there was a routing issue but not enough people came forward for Virgin to do something

I dont like to argue, but

No it doesn't

VM dont block anything except by court order, blocking Destiny servers for no reason makes no sense and is the LEAST likely explanation for the behaviour you are seeing.

First guess- your IP is blocked.

Post a trace-route to the servers you are trying to connect to.

Thats why I said , 'more likely, ports'. also bungie ban/block accounts, not IPs.I say again, using a VPN solves the issue. If I knew the actual Ips of the destiny 2 servers (I imagine there are a few) I'd run a traceroute.

https://www.bungie.net/en-us/Forums/Post/247891189 its mainly P2P so it's a port issue.

Re: Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

Its trivial to find the IP's, GIYF

No online game does NOT block IP's or they would be DDOS'ed into oblivion day 1

If its entirely a p2p issue, do the recommended port forwarding, that will sort it as you dont need to contact the bungie servers.

Other than that, perfectly well reasoned.

Re: Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

This is not solved, port fowarding unsurprisingly doesn't resolve the issue. I think I've found where the blockage is using TCPView in the Sysinternals suite to see what connection attempts are being made. The problem is timeouts that 'Blizzard Agent' is getting to 24.105.29.76 that the client isn't handling too well. it seems. The route through Virgin media (from where I am obviously) is having issues.

Here's the Traceroute without running a VPN..

Related, but harder to track : the Battle.net client connects to IPs for the P2P connections the moment Battle.net loads (I believe these are announced via the IP I've traced a route to above). These connections only appear if I run the client with a VPN, which leads me to thin this IP is the announcer.

Re: Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

The timeouts are completely normal on Virgin Media servers, they show up on traceroutes to any website/server. It just means the server is set not to respond to ping requests, but it is still correctly passing your traffic on to the next server otherwise every hop would time out.

Re: Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

I know... Read what I wrote..

The problem is timeouts that 'Blizzard Agent' is getting to 24.105.29.76 that the client isn't handling too well. it seems. That's a guess, the client isn't handling timeouts properly. No idea.

'Using TCPview this is all I could find that I think could be the cause, by comparing it's behaviour, (connection requests and returns) when trying to connect with and without a VPN. It's only started happening in the last couple of weeks, and it's started happening before the last Destiny 2 patch. Also, I'm guessing it's only happening in my area, because Destiny 2 has quite a sizeable player base and likely many users are on Virgin Media. So.. as there isn't anyone else raising the issue, and it works fine if I connect to a London Server first it's a local issue, yeah ?

Re: Why are Destiny 2 servers being blocked by you ?

I just switched to Virgin from Sky and getting 'Destiny 2 servers not available' on Steam.  Is there any fix for this?  Other games work fine
