Re: Speed slows down through cable

Bimble over to thinkbroadband.com and create an account, then set up a Broadband Quality Monitor.  That'll continuously monitor your cable connection for lag and packet loss.  Let it run for 24 hours, then post a link to it here.

If all is working well it will look something like this:

My Broadband Ping - VM number 2

But without the red bar - that's where my hub was turned off.

Re: Speed slows down through cable

If you go to http://192.168.0.1/ (or http://192.168.100.1/ if you are in modem mode) to get the VM hub GUI. Don't login (unless you have a Hub 3 and this is your first visit to the hub GUI, which does require you to login) but instead click on Router Status which is either a button in the top right of the screen or a text link at the bottom of the screen depending on which hub you have. Click on the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log sections and copy & paste the figures from those screens and post them here, don't worry about the formatting or you can post screenshots if that is easier. If using screenshots be careful to edit out or obscure any reference to your WAN IP or MAC address in the log to protect your privacy.  If you copy and paste the log then the forum will automatically censor this sensitive information. Also note that images will take time to appear on the forum due to a combination of awaiting moderator approval and buggy code.

The community can have a look for you and see if anything in the figures looks wrong and advise accordingly. Or you can wait for the VM staff to pick up this thread (can take a few days) and run checks on your line.

Re: Speed slows down through cable

I can't see anything in the figures that would normally cause the problem you've got, although both the network log and BQM show that your service is very poor.  The way that it flicks from unuseable to OK in the BQM suggests that it may be a faulty joint or similar, but that's only a guess on my part, and you'll need a technician to visit and work out what's actually going wrong.  Suggest you hold on and let the forum staff pick this up and advise on next steps - sometimes that take a few minutes, sometimes a day or two.

Re: Speed slows down through cable

Hi AzarPlayGames,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome back, I am sorry to see you are getting slower than expected WiFi speeds.

I have had a look at your services from our and can see there is currently an SNR issue in your area (Signal to Noise Ratio) this was raised on 10/02/20 and the estimated fix date is 20/02/20 at 09:00, the Ticket reference is F007791290  .

SNR can cause the issues you are experiencing.

Kind regards

Paul.

Re: Speed slows down through cable

My apologies for the longer than expected fix time. Depending on the complexity of the fault, this can cause it to be an unusually higher fix time but we would be working hard to get this resolved asap.

Kind regards,
