Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

In the last week or so I'm seeing consistent packet loss when playing Rainbow 6 Siege.

The in game team roster lists my ping at 9, the main menu lists my ping at 26 to the data centre WEU.

My connection to the VM hub is wired, for the most part I'm the only person using it, but having said that the M500 connection *should* handle more than just me playing a game.

The PC is running very little else, Steam, UPlay, G Hub, Razer Synapse, KeePass, CyberGhost (offline).

After a very short time in game (ping still 9) I'm getting yellow and red warnings for packet loss.

Any suggestions?

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

Hi Martin

Please don't create multiple threads for the same issue, it is against the forum rules.  I have removed your duplicate posts.

If you go to http://192.168.0.1/ (or http://192.168.100.1/ if you are in modem mode) to get the VM hub GUI. Don't login (unless you have a Hub 3 and this is your first visit to the hub GUI, which does require you to login) but instead click on Router Status which is either a button in the top right of the screen or a text link at the bottom of the screen depending on which hub you have. Click on the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log sections and copy & paste the figures from those screens and post them here, don't worry about the formatting or you can post screenshots if that is easier. If using screenshots be careful to edit out or obscure any reference to your WAN IP or MAC address in the log to protect your privacy.  If you copy and paste the log then the forum will automatically censor this sensitive information.

The community can have a look for you and see if anything in the figures looks wrong and advise accordingly. Or you can wait for the VM staff to pick up this thread (can take a few days) and run checks on your line.

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

Sorry for the multiple threads, I put them in believing the others hadn't been posted because my profile only listed posts from a number of years ago.  In the end I guessed maybe my adblocker was interfering with this site - apparently not.

Thank you for removing the additional posts.  I appreciate your responding to my posts.

What I did see last night / this morning, between 4am - 5am I could play the game without any packet loss whatsoever.

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

Hi Martin

Downstream channel 1 is showing a lot of Post RS errors which is not good, although this could be a historical build up in if the hub hasn't been restarted for a few weeks.  When was the hub last restarted?  If it was more than a week ago, restart it then wait 24 hours and capture the downstream figures again and post them.  Also worth checking all the VM cable connectors in your property are finger tight.

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

The router has been up for 2 hours 30 minutes.  At no point did I manage to get a game of R6: Siege without packet loss.

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

Not showing Post RS errors on the downstream channels anymore.

I'd suggest setting up a BQM to track packet loss here:

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality

You will need to check the hub settings to make sure the hub is able to respond to pings for the BQM to work.

Re: Rainbow 6 Siege packet loss

Just to rule out the WEU server being an issue (or more specifically the route your packets are taking to/from it), manually select NEU and see if you get the same packet loss problem. Instructions on how to do that: https://support.ubi.com/en-us/Faqs/000024723/Rainbow-Six-Siege-Manual-Datacenter-Selection
