Packet loss - Warzone

I have been having issues with packet loss for a number of months. Seems to have gotten worse. I have a wired connection to my PS5.

Speeds are usually fine when running speed tests. Notice no impact on general web browsing or streaming but I am experiencing regular lag and packet loss indicators (on average every 30 seconds).

Appreciate any help or direction. Didn't seem to have this issue on PS4.

BQM for the past couple days:

Re: Packet loss - Warzone

BQM shows what looks like a noisy connection (all those high random spikes), but at the time you posted the hub stats they were all well behaved.  There's a couple of breakthrough post-RS (uncorrected) errors, of themselves not material but they would be if those numbers are building.  When you restart the hub is clears the counters, so a couple of suggestions:

1) Post the network log.  Ignore the error message, just press "post" a second time

2) Let the hub run 12/24 hours without a restart and repost the downstream data so we can see if the uncorrected errors are increasing.  Normally the pre-RS (corrected) errors aren't important.

Re: Packet loss - Warzone

Where you got the hub stats from ("Check router status" link off the hub's login screen, but don't login), that brings up a window with five tabs, two of which are Downstream and Upstream data, one of the others is the network log.  As with the stats, it extends down the page below the visible window.

Re: Packet loss - Warzone

Unfortunately there's nothing obviously amiss in the network log.  A few well spread T3 timeouts are normal on a cable connection, and that's what yours is showing, and the other entries are "business as usual" stuff that doesn't normally have any bearing on quality of connection.  Hopefully the error counters show something, failing that we can appeal to the forum staff to check for any area faults.

There are online and sometimes recorded messages about area faults, but for reasons known only to VM they don't identify all faults, which defeats their very point.

You could also try a pinhole reset of the hub (which will clear any custom settings you've made).

Appreciate the help. I’ll try and do a pinhole reset this evening.

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Community Forums, DanKelly_,

Sorry to hear that you have been having connection issues. How has things been since your pinhole reset?

I have run a remote diagnostic and have not been able to identify any issues with your connection.

We can also provide online broadband help here: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/services-support/broadband
