PS4 will not connect to internet

New to Virgin and verging on cancelling the whole thing.

All devices will connect fine except my PS4.

It's an older model (my kids PS4 slim connects fine).  Rebooting everything does nothing.

Says it's a dns issue but I know that's a red herring, using the usual Google dns settings.

There's a couple of posts on this but no definitive answer.

Please can someone help before I cancel the whole thing!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: PS4 will not connect to internet

Have you tried a wired connection.

Is your PS4 using 2.4GHz or 5GHz range to connect.

Re: PS4 will not connect to internet

Hi RedGooner

Thanks for the reply.

Cannot do wired due to the location, tried 2.4 and 5ghz, tried renaming these.

I have a tplink router on its way and will try that with the hub3 in modem mode.

Our general service has been up and down since install, I'm actually appalled at the unreliability.   Thank goodness I'm running standard broadband in parallel.

Re: PS4 will not connect to internet

TBH modem mode is the way to go.

I have been modem mode since 2011, never looked back...
