PS4 regularrly dropping to 4kbps at random points thoughout the day.

I've been having this problem for the last two months, but it has gotten far more frequent since the viral outbreak has caused more people to be using the internet at once.

While it may be selfish for me to want my gaming time during a time such as this, and I expected speed drops, but down to kilobites per second? You can't even load webpages during that!

My computer gets dropped from 75mbps to 20mbps which is thankfully still enough to do things, but the PS4 just looses all online functionality once it gets dropped down to less than a megabyte!

This is a problem both over wired and a wifi connection! I have gone into the router settings to give my PS4 a static ip address.

I've been trying to get in contact with Virgin by Phone for weeks now, no luck getting in touch with a person yet, and with the automated system not detecting any problems, i can't register a loss of service, however I've been lead to believe those aren't eligible unless it is a consecutive 24 hours or more, not intermittent troubles.

 

Edit 1: I am paying for the 200mbps package!

I have a problem with both, I try to alternate between the two which sometimes helps, but not right now!

It's disappointing to hear you've been having this trouble. Checking things from our end - other than some in-home WiFi issues I'm not able to detect anything obvious that would be impacted wired connections.

 

Please upload your Hub/network connection details so we can check to see if there is a problem there. If you're unsure how:


In your browser’s URL box type in  http://192.168.0.1  (or http://192.168.100.1 - if in modem mode) and hit return. Click on the “router status” icon at top right (SuperHub2) or the text at bottom-middle of first page up (Hub3) and then copy/paste 3 full sets of data onto here – from the downstream, upstream, &  network logs pages. Please don’t include personal data or MAC addresses -  if you copy/paste the data the forum software should blank them out for you.

I'm having a look at your connection and not detecting any issues. Have you been able to reboot or rest your hub or able to run a test specifically on an isolated wired connection?
