Latency issues

I've had virgin media for multiple years now and was on a VM superhub2ac and was always having intermittent wifi on my 2GHz band. We recently switched to the Hub 3 and now my 2GHz band and my 5GHz band is intermittent with really bad lag spikes on Games on pc and playstation (Fortnite, Warzone...).

I have set up a BQM today and will wait 24hours for the result to post on here

Re: Latency issues

If you can also connect to the hub (shouldn't need to log in) click on Check router status, then post here (as text) the contents of the three tabs titled Downstream, Upstream, and Network log.  That and the BQM will give us the best all round view of what is going on.

Re: Latency issues

Nothing immediately obvious from that lot I'm afraid.  Looks like you recently restarted the hub (because the pre-RS error count is low, and the hub clears the error counters when power-cycled), but the 20 post-RS errors on channel 2 don't look good.  A post-RS error is an error that can't be fixed by the hub's error correction software, and if that number is rising, then that could explain the latency issues.  Make sure the hub stays switched on overnight, and repost the stats when you've got a 24 hour BQM, as that'll mean we can see what's happening to the errors.

I'm focusing on the cable connection as that's easiest to check; If the BQM comes back "clean" and the hub stats are similar to those just posted then we might need to look at the wifi settings, but normally latency problems are cable rather than wifi.  There is a small latency overhead added when you game over wireless, but if all is working properly that shouldn't cause any problems.

Re: Latency issues

I'm not sure if this means anything but while I was waiting for the BQM I took a ping test off the hub to Google.co.uk

PING google.co.uk (216.58.204.3): 64 data bytes
72 bytes from 216.58.204.3: seq=0 ttl=117 time=20.000 ms
72 bytes from 216.58.204.3: seq=1 ttl=117 time=10.000 ms
72 bytes from 216.58.204.3: seq=2 ttl=117 time=3690.000 ms
72 bytes from 216.58.204.3: seq=3 ttl=117 time=6720.000 ms
72 bytes from 216.58.204.3: seq=4 ttl=117 time=10750.000 ms
--- google.co.uk ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 50% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 10.000/4238.000/10750.000 ms
