Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

I've been having this issue for a while (at least 6 months) but it is worse now than ever, probably due to the increased coronavirus load. I don't appear to have download issues, it appears to be the upload that stalls for 20-30 seconds. On Skype I can still see and hear the other people on the call but I have frozen on their screens. On PS4 playing Modern Warfare for example, I got locked to a spot where i'll keep rubber banding back to until the issue clears (usually when you're dead on the ground - really annoying in Warzone!).

Re: Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

Your levels are good and pre/post errors are low ... try going into advanced settings, tools and changing the default value of the option that displays 1500 to 1450 ... this usually fixes ps4 problems ... if you want me to check your network give a pm 😁

@Richard_A11 Is that the MTU setting you are referring to?  I think it is a bit of a myth that changing MTU helps the PS4:

I've had a PS4 since launch day and before that a PS3 and never had to change the MTU to play online games.

@DHC-Shannow Are you connecting to the hub via Ethernet or WiFi?

Re: Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

Doing this worked several times in the field 🤔 worth a shot I'd say 😁

Re: Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

I've tried direct wired, using mains network adaptors and WiFi (both direct and through another router) all with the same result. The actual problem is intermittent and varies in severity but I can guarantee I'll get it every time I play online, multiple times over the space of a couple of hours.

Re: Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

Sadly changing the MTU value to 1450 from 1500 didn't improve the lag situation, is there anything else I can do?

Re: Lag Spikes on PS4 / Skype

The SH2AC does not have the PUMA6 chipset. That counts that out stright away.
