Improving Wifi for Gaming

I am looking to improve my wifi signal, i have been on to Virgin who have split my frequency which seemed to work for a short time but I still have lag issues. I am currently using an Ethernet cable via a TP-Link TL-WA850RE N300 and it still doesnt seem to have improved. I have read about possibly buying a TP Link Archer router. Does anybody have any experience of this? Will it definitely improve my signal? I ideally do not want to move the hub incase it effects Smart TV etc downstairs

Re: Improving Wifi for Gaming

How is that possible without moving the router? I would possibly need a 30 metre cable and i dont want that running through the house
