High latency on Hell Let Loose

joek66
On our wavelength

Recently joined VM on a 100 Mbps connection and ping is typically 90-120ms (significantly more than previous TalkTalk fibre connection).

I'm using a PowerLine connector but tried removing that today and connecting directly via Ethernet cable - very little improvement.

Would love to know what I could do to get the ping down to something a bit more respectable, e.g. 50ms or lower!

Thanks

So, I'm still experiencing the same relatively high latency issues.

The engineer removed an attenuator which he thought was the problem, but I don't really see any improvement to the latency issues.

Looking at the BQM, there are periods over the past month where average latency in the evening has shot up for several hours. Could this be a capacity issue or something else?

I've taken another look at my downstream and upstream readings to see if this adds any more useful data:

Hi joek66,

Thanks for getting back in touch with us.

I have taken a look from our side and everything does appear to be running within specification.

Do you have a link to your most recent/live BQM graph?

Thanks,

Nat

Yes, the link is in this thread on the first page. The BQM has been running the whole time.

Particular days over April where BQM shows high latency and (on some days) packet loss:

Hmm, my pictures are no longer appearing - are image uploads from BQM not allowed? I'm conscious that you can only ever view the last 24 hours which isn't very helpful when reporting a problem that's been going on for months.

If the upload pictures contained any identifying information they would be moderated out.

A Live Link to the BQM is best because it can be seen at any time.

Hi @joek66 thanks for your posts and I'm sorry you're still having issues.

I've checked, double-checked and triple-checked and there are definitely at the time of writing, no confirmed area faults or on your network either - all of the upstream, downstream and power levels are within specifications so there is nothing in theory that should be causing this problem from our side.

I know you've provided the BQM levels so that would seem apparent it's affecting the whole network, but do you notice problems on any other games apart from Hell Let Loose and if so, are all of these via Steam? If so, can you try something else that's not on Steam to see if this makes any difference?

Additionally, it seems that you've had your Hub turned on for quite a significant amount of time, so I'd also advise performing a complete factory reset as advised here - please note this may mean you have to reset up your powerline adaptors too and your SSID and password will also reset to default.

Many thanks

Tom_W

@joeek66

Most of the issues in your BQM graphs are not unique to your connection, but are widespread network problems.  Compare your 20 April with my graph for the same day.  Other days have the same close similarity.

By all means complain about this, as others already have, but there is nothing that can be done to your own individual connection to improve it.
