High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Hi,

I'm having bad latency issues when gaming and can't seem to resolve it by resitting the cables and restarting the hub.

I use my Hub 3.0 in modem mode and set this up the day I had my self install. The hardware (wall sockets etc.) was in the house when we moved in and I'm not sure how old this is.

I couldn't find details on what "Normal" looks like in the detail below, can anyone help?

Apologies for the thread - it wouldn't let me post all of it in one..

Re: High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Hello

I would be more concerned with the Post RS Errors, the  pre Errorrs are ones that the hubs has corrected, all errors are historical one thing I would do would be to go around and make sure that all coaxial connections to all VM equipment are finger tight, then power off hub for 30 secs and then back on and see if that makes any difference.

One other thing which would be helpful if you could go to https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality and setup a BQM and let it run for 24hrs and then post the results here.

Re: High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Thanks Mike.

I tried to set up BQM, but in modem mode, I wasn't able to allow ping to the device, so it just failed. Any advice on this?

Re: High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Hello

If you are in modem mode you will need to log into your router and enable ICMP pings.

Re: High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the help - I've set up the test now.

I'll leave this running for 24 hours, then try reseating the cables and reboot again, to see if this changes anything over the 24 hours after.

I'll be back in 2 days!

Re: High Pre RS Errors and bad latency in games

Apologies on the delay coming back.

Okay, so here's a typical day where I've played games in the evening:

Random spikes causing much frustration.

And here's a fair standard day:

I'm connected straight to my router via a cable and my partner is in the house watching TV over the WiFi.
