Gig 1 service - Earley - Reading area. Contineous packet loss over the weekend

Hi - Contineous packet loss over this weekend (11-12 July 2020). Download speed was half the advertised speed (from 52Mb to 25Mb).

I usually have spikes a few times a day. My son plays online tournaments, and it is absolutely unacceptable to pay a premium price for not so good service. I was on BT for the past 5 years, and never had the latency or packet loss issue a single time although the speed was 10Mb up and 48Mb down.

This is my upsteam looking like

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

15370000049.0205995120 KSym/sec64QAM2
23940000049.5205995120 KSym/sec64QAM4
34620000050.0205995120 KSym/sec64QAM3
46030000050.0205995120 KSym/sec64QAM1

Can a mod contact me and look into this issue? Is this area over subscribed like so many other areas as people have been complaining about on forums like ispreview etc.?

Those upstream power levels look rather high to me, suggesting upstream noise.  Unfortunately we don't know what the operating ranges are for the Hub 4, so that's not conclusive, and you'd need to get the forum staff to look into this.

Modem is up for 0 days 15h:3m:32s. i.e. no reboots since my last post. but power levels have gone down, packet loss has issue gone too.

Can some mod tell me what the heck is going on? Seems like your network is under stress. This is unacceptable. I am paying the premium price for 1Gig.

Downstream was between 7 - 8.5, but just now it is surprisingly between 6.5 and 7.5

Re: Gig 1 service - Earley - Reading area. Contineous packet loss over the weekend

Upstream power levels are going down. Modem was never rebooted since the first post. Uptime 2 days 11h:4m:33s.

Still no response from any mods. Is it normal of VM? I am pretty sure that the Early (Reading) area is oversubscribed

Yes, this is normal.  The forum is not a real time chat service.

I am pretty sure that the Early (Reading) area is oversubscribed

Possibly.  VM staff may confirm or reject the idea.  Set up a Broadband Quality Monitor and that will usually show any evidence of over-utilisation after it has run for 24 hours.

Re: Gig 1 service - Earley - Reading area. Contineous packet loss over the weekend

Hi sohail2020,

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community. Sorry to hear you're having issues with our internet services. We understand the frustration when things don't work as they should.

Can we ask if you have done the speed test through SamKnows as you have the new super hub 4? We only ask as remotely checking from our end with the details you have provided there are no issues that could be causing the slow speeds.

You downstream and upstream levels are showing within spec and there are no area faults.

Please can you let us know regarding the above so we can assist you further.

Kind regards Jodi
