Gaming issues

B3CDA35A-3118-4A78-8470-8D6322F2D8C8.jpeg

can anyone help? My wifi is pretty strong. I’m on the 350mb package, but every night when I’m gaming with friends, I drop out of matches once or twice a night and don’t know how to fix it. It’s usually saying that I lost connection to the host. I’ve set up a broadband monitor but not sure how to read it.

Re: Gaming issues

Are you getting the same effects while using a wired connection? Also, can you share the direct link to your BQM instead of a screenshot 🙂

Re: Gaming issues

Gaming on WIFI = LOL

Go WIRED for Gaming

--
Red (VM SH2 AC Beta tester)
Running on 1Gbps VM service with SH4 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk. If you are happy with my answers please press Kudo ?

sorry, that would have been much more helpful wouldn’t it! I’m using a wired connection for my ps5, happens every day. Very frustrating and don’t know what the issue is!

Re: Gaming issues

It shows the hub off-line for a few hours, I'm wondering did you have it switched off during this time?

Also, can you please upload your router stats

Type 192.168.0.1 or (192.168.100.1 if you have your Hub in Modem mode) into your address bar at the top of your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on:

Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs, if you get a yellow warning just click the Post button again. You can use more than one post for each item if needed.

If you get a warning when you hit “Post” just hit “Post” again and it should work ok!

Please do not use screenshots

Re: Gaming issues

Your stats over all seem fine although you do have quite a few Post RS errors. Also your BQM is showing some load on the system at peak time, otherwise known as over utilisation, although it's not severe but it would certainly account for the problems you are having. Hopefully when lockdown ends and things start to get back to normal this will change or maybe in the meantime Virgin will expand that part of their network, although I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

In the meantime I would suggest you do a factory reset on the hub to clear the errors and keep an eye on how fast they rise again as it could indicate a problem somewhere on the line. Hold in the pinhole at the rear of the router for at least 50 seconds and then release (the lights will flash while holding in the pinhole reset button after about 10-15 seconds) then allow 5 minutes for the router to reboot and re-sync the connection.
