Evening (mainly) ping spikes/packet loss

Hi All

Hope you can help. I'm currently getting a lot of ping spikes mainly in the evening. It's causing disconnects in gaming and massive issues with VOIP it also causes issues with streaming as it's nigh on like the connection freezes completely, but the modem never has to re-connect. I've had a BQM setup for a while and here's a few examples from the last few days:

As you can see in general the connection is fine but these spikes just making gaming massively frustrating.

Re: Evening (mainly) ping spikes/packet loss

Hi Roostlick,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear you're having some issues that is making gaming hard, I can appreciate you're keen to get to the bottom of it.

Can you confirm if this happens on both a WiFi and wired connection?

Do the lights on the hub change at all when you notice these issues?

Does it affect all devices when this happens or just the one?

Let us know.

Re: Evening (mainly) ping spikes/packet loss

Hi Emma

- Happens on wired and WiFi.

- Hub lights don't change at all.

- It affects all the devices on the network until the spikes stop.

Thanks

Re: Evening (mainly) ping spikes/packet loss

Thanks for getting back to me Roostlick,

I’ve had a look at everything and it does look like there’s some work ongoing on the local network.

We are planning to undertake some upgrades to support the increased demand for our services in your area. When completed, any slow broadband speeds and connection issues you're experiencing should be resolved. The reference for the ongoing work is F007182561 and the current review date is 23/10/19.

We’ll know more around the time of the review date, please feel free to check in again around that time and we can check on the progress of the work for you.

Hi Emma

If this is going to be the state of my connection for the next few months then how does this get escalated to either be let out of my contract or have a discount applied as I'm not able to get full or consistent use out of what I'm paying for.

It also seems to be getting worse.

Re: Evening (mainly) ping spikes/packet loss

You either have something hammering your connection or your being DoS or something.

If its noise on Docsis I would think the T# timeout counters would be going mad.

Can you put the hub in modem mode with a PC and setup another BQM see how your connection is like that.
