Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

Over the past week i have been experiencing constant disconnects to only World of Warcraft. I have ran a pathping from multiple computers (both wired and wireless) to see if it was my connection but all of them have the same Packet loss issue. I will be stable for 5-10 minutes and randomly i will get disconnected whilst every other program stays connected with no disruptions.

Results from pathping were in the range of 95% to 100% packet loss. Can post results if needed.
Is there any way besides paying an extra £5-£10 on a VPN to sort this issue?
I actually can't play with any of my friends if this keeps up due to how unstable its becoming.

There was an update recently in my area but this didn't solve anything.

Try running a WinMTR test and posting your results. That's what I did and I was told what the problem was. I had someone come round today and they gave us a new router as there was a downstream power level issue. I have to wait 24 hours for the ethernet to come back on but I'm hoping it will fix it. I've had these annoying disconnections on World of Warcraft Classic since September. Like you, everything else on my wired connection is fine.

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

Hi JackArcher182,

Thank you for your post & welcome to the community.

I'm truly sorry to hear you're having an issues with this game.

Can I just confirm have you checked out the World of Warcraft Forum's: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/ to see if they have posted anything to help with this?

^Martin

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

I have been checking through the wow forums but unfortunately its all focused on when the world server went down yesterday and not these constant dcs. Some were saying the possibility of addons being the cause but this still occurred whilst they were disabled. Dc's are still happening.

Results from my pathping aswell:

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

Thanks for your posts JackArcher182,

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with World of Warcraft.

Can you tell us if you've been experiencing any similar issues with any other online games you play? Do you also have any issues with the broadband connection such as streaming videos or surfing the web?

Kindest regards,

David_Bn

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

Heys thanks for the reply, i haven't had any issues with other games, video streams or downloads. It is exclusively to wow. Nothing else disconnects whether im in a call on discord at the time aswell. The disconnect amount has gone down a little but they still are often.

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

From what you have stated to date we'd recommend getting in touch with Blizzard. If the problem was with your connection it would affect other online games and services you use.

Let us know how you get on with this JackArcher182.

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

I also have had this issue since 8th jan 2020, when VM got installed... please help. I suspect it being a network config/router issue. high packet loss, constant disconnects.

It has been fine for years on other ISP's... very specific to VM. I have trawled the net, on official wow forums...they always point to ISP.

looking around on the net and on your forums, it seems like a common VM problem

Re: Constant Disconnections to World of Warcraft, Packet loss

Hey. I faced the same problem. At first I thought it was my provider. Then I decided to write to the support service, but they could not help with anything. And then I gave my friend an account to fix it, but in the end he stole it and I didn’t see nor my friend neither my account anymore.
I did not know what to do. I wanted to continue playing WoW, but I did not want to upgrade the character from the very beginning. Fortunately, my friend advised me an excellent boost service: https://boosthive.eu/wow
I am very grateful to these guys for their work and for the quality of services!
