Can I request a home hub 2 whilst on vivid 200

Is the home hub 2 compatible with vivid 200's  200mb/dwn 12mb/up.

I have a hh3 in modem mode with an Asus rt-ac86u as router and as we all know it is not good for online multiplayer games thanks to the Puma 6 chipset.

can I request a hh2 from virgin?

or is changing ISP provider to Zen just the only choice for customers like me?

zen does 300mb/dwn and 50mb/up and they don't lock you to a failing modem (hh3)

Re: Can I request a home hub 2 whilst on vivid 200

From previous discussions on this forum, we can say that a Superhub 2 is certainly 200 Mbps capable, but as far as we know there's no remaining "new" stock.  If you still have an old SH2 that was used on your account, then it is possible to request VM to reactivate it, but they won't reactivate a SH2 that was used on any other account, eg from a friend, or bought on eBay (I believe this policy dates back to fraudulent use of VM in the past with secondhand and cloned hubs).  If you have one, you'd still need to be persistent to get an old one re-activated, because the first line technical support won't even know what you're talking about, but wouldn't be able to reactivate it anyway.

Having said that, the SH2 had an earlier Puma chipset that was a bit rubbish, and the VM fix for the Puma chipset in the Hub 3 astonished most of us angry gamers by actually working.  In the run-up to the fix being released, most of us were convinced that it was window dressing and wouldn't work, and lo and behold it did.  Most other aspects of the Hub 3 remain weak, but you won't see much of those since you're using a premium router.

So by all means go with Zen - I'd recommend them over VM anyday, and if I had availability of Zen FTTP I'd cancel VM today - but I don't think you need to change ISP purely on account of the Puma chipset in the Hub 3.

Even the hub 2 has a Puma chipset so its not like you can get away from it.

The hub 3 firmware has been improved and will it in modem mode with your own router you should be fine unless your get down for the network in your area?

Re: Can I request a home hub 2 whilst on vivid 200

Yh i've heard that they made software updates which maybe did something for a few people but apparently not me, either way a software patch won't fix a hardware problem. You know what is really just frustrating is that knowing for a while now that the system they offer is not good for gaming they still market the vivid 200 package for gaming. I previously had the VIVID 100 and when i'm gaming I honestly cant tell the difference between the two. I can only appreciate the 200mb/dwn when i'm downloading things. in the US there is a class action lawsuit against the puma chipset and related devices wish there was one here. If VM would only release a list compatible 3rd party modems or even just bring out a new line of specialised and functioning modem I would gladly give them more money but no Instead i'm paying more for the VIVD 200 upgrade and i've gotta say its not been worth it. Soon as my contract is done I doubt i'll ever be coming back to VM which is sad because they have many good things going for them just no good things for the business i'm in.

Have you ruled out any other problems with your connection (power levels, overutilisation etc)? The Hub 3 patch was a major improvement and you shouldn't be having any big problems with gaming now.

Yes I've just spoken to a VM representative on here and a technician will come this week to have a look at my power levels apparently there is a problem with some of the downstream channels. Other than that no overutilization and i've upgraded everything I can upgrade, i've optimised all settings basically anything I can do on my end I've tried and at a costly expense too. But here's hoping i'ts a power level problem ay.
