Tips for you if u enjoy gaming online,

Get your self either an asus xg-c100c 10gbe pcie network card with a cat 7 or if can afford it a cat 8 ethernet cable pre made 1 if you don't know how to make your own cables that is.

Or get your a Mikrotik CRS305-1G-4S+IN (10 GB SFP+ Switch)

And a Mellanox spf+ 10gbe full fibre network card with 5metre or more depending on what u need length wise plus virginmedia direct into mikrotik switch and u got your self a 10gbe full fibre network u get better gaming experience and no issues of spikes or latency or ping issues.

The Virgin Media HUB 3 and HUB 4 have 1Gbps Ethernet ports.

Even the HUB 5 has only one 2.5Gbps port.

So having a 10Gbps home network won't make any difference to your 'online' gaming experience.

The fact you've also recommended a switch instead of putting the HUB in modem mode and using your own router is also questionable.
