Annoying ping spikes

Recently moved to Virgin <7 days ago, used to have a very low ping in my area <10ms to bbc.co.uk at all times, however I've moved over to Virgin (vivid500) and am experiencing minimum of 18ms with jitter causing spikes to 28ms+.

I don't find it much of a problem for most games, however I spend a fair bit of time on fifa and since moving I have not had a game where I join the lobby and remain '5 bars' on the latency scale, it will always drop to 4 and back to 5.

Though it does not cause too much of an issue in games (though a slight noticeable input delay) I find that almost 90% of people leave the lobby before I can start a game with them, meaning it can take me 10 minutes to get someone who actually will play me!

I'm currently connected wired to my xbox and using the hub 3.0 standalone (though attempting to use a router with the hub in modem mode didn't change anything)

My router stats look fine to me and BQM looks fine.

Any advice appreciated!

Re: Annoying ping spikes

Hi benjimoodie,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear this.

Do you know if you the same issues on any other devices?

Re: Annoying ping spikes

The issue is on all devices, the latency fluctuates and is poor for gaming.
I'm having more issues on more games now too, e.g. fifa, halo, fortnite.

Issues I didn't have present on FTTC.

Is there anything that can be done to reduce latency and to lower the jitter?

My stats seem good:

Not much you can do for that, your issue might be down to using the hubs router mode can you connect only a PC to hub and try modem mode then if its fine you might want to think about getting your own router.

Re: Annoying ping spikes

I've tried modem mode already, same issues exist.
Do you know if they ever offer out the Hitron Business hub?
