"Checking URL ..." message and email frozen after Zoom

After finishing a Zoom meeting that I have entered from a link in an email message, when I return to my email on Virgin Media Mail, I get a white screen with the message "Checking URL ..." in the top left-hand corner. The only way for me to get into my email account is to switch my iPad off and on again. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can overcome this?
