old virgin.net address still open after 10 years. how do i get this shut?

My old virgin.net address is still open. I had assumed when I shut my account 10 years ago it would close. As a result a subscription on auto renew has been going through costing me a lot of money. 

How has this happened. How do i get this account shut and bouncing back?
