ntlworld email states account not recognised

I have been with ntlworld since 1996. I am still receiving emails on my phone but cannot send any.

Now I cannot access my account on my laptop. It is stating there is no account with this name?

Can you help please?

Hi smileyone, thanks for the message. Can you confirm if you still have an active service with us as we would need to have a live service in order to keep the email alive. I would ask that you would check here to see if the email is still valid. Please let us know how it goes? Chris

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, the link works to say the email is live. 

I haven’t had an active service with you gor years as not available where I live.

About 5 years ago I was asked if I wanted to keep the email address and it was confirmed and continues to work. I still receive emails through my pop mail but cannot access it through virgin website. 
I need to access old emails on file there.

It is not always guaranteed that it will continue to function, can you try logging in here to see if it will allow you to log in? Chris

That’s why I’m here because that site states username not recognised!

I can still use my pop mail with this email though

Have you tried logging in with the above link, sometimes it will allow you to log in this way. Can you let us know if it works or if you are still having issues? ^Chris

Yes, I did try ( again) and no it does not work. It states username not recognised - even when requesting a new password it states username not recognised

Hi smileyone, as the account has been disconnected for around 5 years, we would not be able to change any passwords. Email addresses are supposed to be deleted after 90 days and am very surprised it has lasted this long, if you are able to remember the password or use an device with the details saved you may be able to log in. At the moment the only thing we can do is delete it, you have decided against this for the time being. As the account is former there is little which we can do. ^Chris
