loss of access to email

Last week I found I was locked out of my email account and unable to reset the password.

I assumed I had been hacked, but it turns out that Virgin decided after over 30 years that they no longer want me as a customer!!

My email was originally created as part of a dial-in modem ISP service, back in the days when 56kbps modems were the fastest home internet available!

When I finally got to speak to someone in support (which was no small feat as I don't have an active account) I was told to speak to TalkTalk?!?!?!? Anyway didn't do that but instead searched here and found the answer - not been hacked but closed due to not being linked to any active account for more than 90 days - well at least I know.

Unlike many other posts on here I am not too bothered that they finally want to close the account nt but couldn't you give me a couple of months to move away please?

Virgin support, please could you reinstate me account, if only for a short amount of time so I can easily migrate away?

@bramer By your own admission in you post you haven't actually been a customer of Virgin Media since they closed down the old dial up service.  

The VM Forum Team are unlikely to be able to reinstate the orphaned account for you in these circumstances.

@graham_A, thanks for the response however I think that after so many years of service what would another 4 weeks matter.

I am simply asking that I am given access for a few more weeks to allow me to migrate away easily and save anything that I need to. I hope someone from the forum team is able to respond and help me out a little bit

Sorry to hear you had this experience with your email. We can understand the shock and inconvenience caused. As mentioned by @Graham_A, we typically aim to close down email accounts associated with no active accounts within 90 days. In some cases, the email can be left running until our team does a manual cleanup. Once this has been actioned, this is not something we can revert. This unfortunately means we are unable to reopen your mailbox. We truly apologise on behalf of the team.
