ipad will not send emails

My ipad has stopped sending emails. has worked for 18 months.

Get message

Cannot Send Mail, the server rejected one of the recipients addresses. The message has been placed in you outbox.

I have contacted the email host they conformed the setting s are all ok.

Apple confirmed there is no problem with the ipad and did a check by connecting the ipad via my phone hotspot, This worked and I can send emails. as long as it is connected to the HotSpot

The mail on my Windows PC works OK

The virgin media system must not like my ipad.

Oddly the problem started when the cable to the house was replaced.

Please help David

Are you sending this to a distribution list ? If so... do emails to single recipients still work ?

Re: ipad will not send emails

In settings>mail at the bottom - what is the "default account" - do you recognise it ? Try changing it to one of the others you may have on the list.

EDIT:  Also are you on the latest software - iOS 13.3 ?  If not, update to that one.

Re: ipad will not send emails

This bit interests me

I have contacted the email host they conformed the setting s are all ok.

This would suggest that you are not using a virginmedia.com email address.  What domain are you sending as? i.e. What comes after the @ symbol.

Are you able to try sending using another email client preferably Thunderbird or Outlook on a PC to see if the same problem exists?

Re: ipad will not send emails

Thanks for your reply

I use FastHosts for my domain.

They have suggested a few server changes but none enable me to send emails from the ipad.

the email account settings work with windows pc's and phones. The apple help desk viewed the ipad settings and confirmed they are OK.

When the ipad is connected to next doors Wi Fi emails send from the ipad.

The plot thickens.

Re: ipad will not send emails

There can be many reasons why email client on iPad won't work for sending.  It would be good if you can replicate the problem on a PC, and then use Outlook or Thunderbird to get the exact VM error code (VMxxx).

 https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Outgoing-Authentication-Issues-Check-Email-Logs/td-p/3237...

Another idea: Look up your external IP address using google search.

Go to spamhaus.org.

See if your IP address is in the SBL CSS block list. (or any other block list).  Virgin use this list when permitting outgoing emails via email clients using their systems.  (Not sure if this would apply to fasthost, but maybe?)

If YES, you have a spambot somewhere in your network and need to remove it - tell us and we'll advise a method.  Then spamhaus will delist your address.

If NO, let us know and we'll try other ideas to diagnose.

Re: ipad will not send emails

@MissPasko

I don't think this is a VM305 error.

VM305 would cause the iPad to respond with "Invalid Username or Password." - (or something similar)

Whereas the iPad stated "Recipient address rejected"

@Hoskinsd

I will repeat my earlier question - what is the domain name?

Also what outbound smtp server are you using?

Hi

I use a .co.uk domain which has worked on the ipad for the last 18 mouth with no problems at all, and is still working on all other devices.

The outgoing server is set to 465
