These look genuine one was even offering gifts from VM! Is there anyone who can stop more getting through?

screams - SPAM.

You could try setting up a simple filter rule in your VM Webmail account (see here how to do it - https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-mail-using-filters )
which looks like this:
Instead of sending these messages to the Spam folder you could elect to send them straight to the Trash folder if you prefer.
Bear in mind though that scammers do change their sending addresses and you may eventually start seeing similar messages come through to your inbox because the address no longer contains "aborallu".
