email compromised

Second email address (ntlworld) on my Virgin Media account has recently been compromised. Shortly after receiving a malicious email, it became totally inaccessible.  Very alarming situation causing a great deal of anxiety which is only increasing.
Could anyone from the Virgin team please assist with recovery of the email address?

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the email you are experiencing.
Are you able to recover the account by going through the password reset link?

Are these issues you are experiencing web mail or app issues? I.e. Outlook etc.

Ilyas, thanks for the reply.
I am unable to reset password using the link. The account appears to have been taken over. Prior to this I received an email in my virgin mail inbox headed "ALERT! I'm hacked you and stolen you information". Almost immediately my Ebay account was also targeted.
