If someone could help me with my email account - even if it's just for a few days usage, that would be massively appreciated. Virgin.net has been my first and only email address so work and personal information is accessed through that. Having it disabled without notice is crippling.

Sorry to hear that you have not been able to access your emails. Do you currently have an account with us? Standalone .Net email accounts are no longer supported on our platform and unfortunately we are unable to retrieve these mailboxes once closed.
