Why can I receive but not send emails again Virgin.

Happens all too often.  The reset when used works for either incoming or outgoing emails but not both.

This across all my devices and many attempts have been made to reset...

Ports are correct 993 and 465 Encryption correct SSL/TLS and password clearly correct as it works on one or the other side of the system so why?

Spent all day on the phone ... 6 calls with 6 different Virgin Media helpers to be told it has been passed to IT and may take 5 days? 

 

Really Virgin Media?????  5 days????

It would be helpful to see what, if any, VM error code is returned by the SMTP server in this situation. Open a Command Shell or Terminal window and enter the following where username:password is replaced with your email address and password, i.e. richard.branson@virginmedia.com:Y54kpX5g:

curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com -u username:password 2>&1 | (where findstr && (findstr  "235 VM") || (grep "235\|VM")) 

Post the redacted results here.
