Virgin.net smtp requires authentication not working

Hi

I have a @virgin.net email account. Typically access from both an ipad and Samsung S9.

Just recently cannot send on S9 as showing error that authentication required to send. This is not the case for ipad. Cannot configure authentication as not accepting settings i input.

Using smtp.virgin.net, SSL, 465, login and password.

Re: Virgin.net smtp requires authentication not working

Hello

All of the Virginmedia email should now  use

Virginmedia.com (Virgin Media Mail) IMAP Server imap.virginmedia.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP security SSL / TLS
IMAP username Your full email address
IMAP password Your Virginmedia.com password
Virginmedia.com (Virgin Media Mail) SMTP Server smtp.virginmedia.com
SMTP port 465
SMTP security SSL / TLS
SMTP username Your full email address
SMTP password Your Virginmedia.com password

Can you try these.

Also a quick question are you still a VM broadband customer ?

Regards Mike

Re: Virgin.net smtp requires authentication not working

Using virgin.net for incoming email and stoats working. Used all settings suggested and no joy.

I am a virgin broadband customer but had this email account independent of that long time ago.

Re: Virgin.net smtp requires authentication not working

It the virgin.net account is not ‘associated’ with a live VM broadband account, then it is regarded as being orphaned and subjected to deletion at any time.

If you log in to your myvirginmedia.com portal, select Profile and Accounts, then do you see the account tin question listed?

If not then it has been orphaned and is in danger of being deleted along with all the email in it, this process might already be underway.

I’ll escalate it to one of the forum staff members to take a look.
