Virgin.net email

Hi. Can some one help please?

I have had a virgin.net email account for 20 years and up to yesterday it had worked perfectly.

Yesterday I had password problems and ended up speaking to VM support. They told  me they couldn't help as the '.net' email domain was now administered by Talk Talk.

When looking on the TT website I found help pages contradicting the advice from VM saying they had not taken over the .net service, just some broadband customers.

I rang VM back and a very helpful agent actually reset my password and this actually worked for a few hours.

However, later last night the password stopped working again and speaking to the VM customer support desk this morning, I was again pointed in the direction of Talk Talk (despite VM resting the password yesterday).

Looking through the TT website, I found a very detailed article explaining why TT didn't look after the virgin.net email accounts and actually posted a link to this community

I feel I am stuck in the middle of a game of corporate ping pong and all I want to do is access my emails - even if it only for a few days so I can archive important ones - if VM ultimately want to close these orphaned accounts down they can when I've completed that task.

Any help or advice would be really welcome.

Thanks

Paul

Re: Virgin.net email

There is a useful post here https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Orphan-Email-accounts/td-p/3492073 which you should read.

When an orphaned account is being closed it's usually webmail which fails first. It may still be possible for access through an email client so it's worthwhile setting one up and downloading your emails to that while you still can.

Client email settings are here: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/email-settings-for-all-virgin-media-domains

TalkTalk have nothing to do with the virgin.net email addresses, no matter what the VM help desk staff may say.

Re: Virgin.net email

Hi. Thanks for this.

I've tried both sets of client settings and neither work.

Appreciate the response though.

Re: Virgin.net email

You can check your email address with http://mailtester.com/ and if it comes back all green an email client should work. If the email address comes back as red then it's been closed already.

Re: Virgin.net email

Hi. Thanks for this. Looks like the account is still open.

Do you/anyone know if anybody from Virgin Media respond to these posts?

Thanks

Re: Virgin.net email

The short answer is yes, but only if you are still a Virgin Media broadband account holder.

As the account is shown as being valid you should be able to set up access on an email client.

Settings for various email clients are here: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-mail-how-to-use-email-with-mail-clients

You have marked this issue as "solved" so that may cause a delay in VM staff responding. Under "Post options", you should remove the solved flag to make sure your post doesn't get ignored.

If you are not a current VM customer you will not get any assistance from VM staff.
