Virgin.net Mail Problem

I have a Virgin.net mail account which I can't log on to via the mail app on my Macbook or the Virgin mail web page. The password is not recognised and the security questions are also not recognised. Calling Virgin I'm told to call Talk Talk. I can still access the account via the mail app on my iPhone but wondered how I go about resetting the password/security questions.

Hello

So we can narrow it down I have a couple of questions

1) Are you a current VM broadband account holder ?

2) Have you tried logging into webmail at https://my.virginmedia.com/my-apps/email/mailbox

3) If you are  an account holder is the email address attached to your broadband account https://my.virginmedia.com/my-profile/listUsers

If you are not longer a VM broadband account holder see https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Orphan-Email-accounts/td-p/3492073
https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Closure-of-former-customer-email-accounts/m-p/4092021

Hello Mike,

No, we do not have a VM broadband account. 

Yes, we have tried logging in via web mail. The password is not recognised and when we follow the 'forget password' link the security question responses are also not recognised.

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community 🙂

 

I'm sorry  you've had some issues with your mailbox, 

 

You would need an active broadband account in order to use this service, you would be given 90 days after cancelling an account until you loose access to the mailbox. 

 

I've popped you over a private message to get a few more details from you to see if there's anything I can do. (purple envelope, top right hand corner)

Thank you Alex_RM,

The mail address affected was tied to a dialup contract dating back to circa 2000 that ended in 2010.

I am content from the links provided that the service is being/has been withdrawn.  Both Virgin Media and Talk Talk help lines were unhelpful. Each pointed at the other.

Neither will figure in our future tech services.

While you get yourself set up with a new email address (preferably with a non-ISP host), you can back up the emails you want to keep.  Be sure that you do not have any accounts or services that are dependent on the virgin.net email as a username or log in credentials, because you may not be able to sign in or update those details once the mailbox has been removed.  Then come back and request that VM delete your personal data from their servers.  You can test that it is completely deleted by running the address through https://mailtester.com.
