Verification of SMTP

On my OnePlus 3 mobile using GMAIL I an having issues sending mail from my NTLWORLD account. When I try and confirm my SMTP settings it says host can not be reached. I do not have this issue on my Samsung tablet or any other device or email client. I have checked the correct settings. I have also carried out several malware scans and everything is normal.

Re: Verification of SMTP

Your image cannot be displayed as it shows your full email address.  It also shows that you are using the wrong smtp server - you should be using smtp.virignmedia.com

When you say it is working on other devices is this also using the GMAIL app?

  • I have updated a clean screen shot. Yes using Gmail and also outlook on my PC. I have also tried using the SMTP.virginmedia.com setting but this does not work either. Thanks for the speedy reply.

Re: Verification of SMTP

This tricky to diagnose if the phone is not relaying the full error code that the VM server is sending out. The port and ssl settings look correct and have got authentication switched on.  Can you check that the From address you have entered for the account exactly matches the email address you are using to authenticate the smtp server.

Re: Verification of SMTP

Might be worth trying to set it up in a different email app to see if you get the same problem.

I use BlueMail on my android phone.

Re: Verification of SMTP

Good to read that.

Unfortunately it doesn't help with what the Gmail issue was, maybe other community members can shed some light on that.

Re: Verification of SMTP

@DByork2  in the screenshot on the third post, you have misspelt the server address as SMPT.ntlworld.com rather than smtp. That'll certainly give you a server not found error message!
