Validation error on subsidiary account

Had an email from VM  alerting that one of my accounts may be compromised. I followed the instructions and changed PW and generated new App Pw, the primary account works fine, but I cannot get the wife’s account a subsidiary account to validate. I have tried to change password without success. No matter what I try I get “the entered. Credential or authentication dies not work or no longer accepted by provider “

I just keep going round in circles . Any ideas

For the moment I'll assume that by "subsidiary" account you mean what VM call a "secondary" account rather than a Blueyonder "alias" account/address.

When you tried to change your wife's password did you do that by signing into the My Virgin Media account for that email account? You can do that using this link https://my.virginmedia.com/home/signIn and entering your wife's "subsidiary" email address and the existing password of her account.

That will take you to the relevant "My Virgin Media" account for that email address and will allow you to reset the password for her account and also create a new "mail app " password  just as you did for your own primary email account.

"No matter what I try I get “the entered. Credential or authentication dies not work or no longer accepted by provider “"

That error message suggests that you are accessing your wife's email from the VM webmail account of your primary email account.

That means that once you have reset the password for your wife's email account you need to update your wife's password stored in the email settings in your webmail account.

To do that sign into your webmail account as normal then click on 1, 2 and 3 as they come up:

Note that you need to click on the Edit icon against your wife's email address.

That will take you to a pop up window - scroll down that window till you get to the password field for the incoming server and enter the "Mail app " password you just generated for her email account.

Try that and see how it goes.
