Unable to send email from client Microsoft mail or Apple mail

I am able to access and send/receive my virgin emails on webmail but over the last few days, functionality for use with Microsoft mail or Apple mail (on iphone) has deteriorated.  To the point that today, I cannot send emails from Microsoft mail on my Windows laptop or from my iphone.  However, I can receive mail on both of these clients.

The error message that appears with Microsoft mail is:

"We couldn't access this account:..... .  You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device"

I have tried updating my password, but this has not changed anything.  Details on the settings on the email accounts (such as incoming/outgoing server etc) seem to be correct.

My husband is also having an issue and so there may be an external issue such as wifi settings etc but we have not changed any settings with our wifi or broadband.

Help!?!

Just wanted to add...  From scrolling through similar posts, I found this instruction:

"Alternatively - if you have a windows 10 PC you could do the following:

type cmd into the search bar and press enter

Copy and paste the following into the window that appears

curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com/ -u username:password 2>&1 | findstr "235 VM"  "

So I did this using my ntlworld.com email with password, and got this response:

525 5.7.13 Authentication Denied (VM303)

Though, I'm not sure what this actually means.

That is a specific error code that means your account has been locked in the VM backend system (Status is LO in ldap). 

This will need input from the VM Forum Team with a referral to their IT colleagues.  I will flag this thread for their attention and they should respond here in a day or so, but it may be sooner than that.

I have the same issue with a very simular error code.

([525#5.713Authentication Denied (VM303)]

Android 9 phone

This started 1st Dec 2020 after VM changed my package.

Did we manage to resolve JLodd issues?

Hi Shakey49

My issues are in the process of getting resolved - it's almost sorted which is great.

Hopefully, someone will pick up yours too, though I'm not sure if you're supposed to start your own thread?  I'm new to the community but I'm sure someone will be able to confirm...?
