Transferring email folders to gmail

Hi

I'm due to leave Virgin Media soon and am currently in the process of transferring all of my emails to a gmail account.

I have successfully set up autoforwarding which has transferred all of the emails from the inbox and all new emails are going into my gmail account.

However, I can't seem to work out how to transfer the emails which are saved in folders.  Is there a way of doing this so that each folder goes into a similarly named folder in gmail?

Re: Transferring email folders to gmail

There is an import feature in Gmail that may work with IMAP sub folders

Re: Transferring email folders to gmail

Hi

Thank you for this.  However, the link you supplied says "You can only move messages, not folders or labels from your other account"

Unfortunately, it's now the folders which I need to move.

Is there any other way of doing this?

Regards

Re: Transferring email folders to gmail

Ah. Then only way I can think of doing it is going via an email client such as Thunderbird.

You'd first need to set up both as IMAP, and have the 'folders' created in Gmail that you want'

As both mail accounts would show with appropriate folders (even though they're just labels in Gmail) you could drag and drop the folder contents from Virgin Media Mail into the 'folders' you've created in Gmail.
