Thunderbird will not accept smtp password

I am having continual problems with Thunderbird not accepting the smtp password - there appears to be a conflict with NTL world and Virginmedia as sometimes smtp.ntlworld.com then smtp.virginmedia.com comes up.

how can I block ntlworld ??

Re: Thunderbird will not accept smtp password

In Thunderbird:

  • select the email address's main folder
  • select View settings for this account
  • select Outgoing Server (SMTP), located toward bottom of account list
  • review the list of SMTP to locate the likely cause of the issue and amend as appropriate.

As a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share my knowledge. I don't work for Virgin Media.

Re: Thunderbird will not accept smtp password

Really need to know the VM error code to troubleshoot the issue further. Follow the instruction here Outgoing Authentication Issues? - Check Email Logs and post just the resulting VM error code(s) here for further help.
