Setting up email on Windows 10

Hi, I have had a blueyonder.co.uk account for decades and I am trying to add it to a new laptop using windows 10, it doesn't want to co-operate. I have logged in to myvirginmedia and the link to email, which is working fine so the password is okay, when I try to add the account to microsoft mail it keeps telling me there is an issue and to "fix" or "change the settings". When I opt to fix, it opens a box with my email and a space to put my password, which it does not like. When I choose change settings, a box appears with a password, (not readable), that seems to be a lot longer than my actual password and if I change it I am back to square one. I use Microsoft office outlook for my blueyonder.co.uk email on my main desktop, also on windows 10, but I am having no luck at all on the new laptop. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If the correct password is rejected over and over, take one step back and check the username is correct.

Thanks for that. I believe that I am using the correct user name, is there a way of checking it in my virgin media account or resetting it? I am getting on in years and not as tech savvy as I would like, probably why I am where I am with this.

Worth double/triple checking the password. The amount of times I get stuck with passwords accidentally typing an 0 for an O or a 1 for a l etc. etc. ...!

I wouldn't disagree but the password does get me in to my virgin media email account on my desktop so I can only assume it is correct.

If possible post a screen shot of the error message.

We have seen situations for some ISPs like Plusnet where the Microsoft email account creation pulls the wrong IMAP/POP3/SMTP server names.

Confirming the email + password works, leads me to suspect the email servers or ports on the Win 10 config may not be correct,
it would be worth a check of the email setup info ( help pages ) to verify the server & port details are correct.

Thanks for your help, I have now decided to revert to the method I had on my old laptop. I have installed an older version of Microsoft office and opened the email account in Outlook, (as is the case on my desktop).
