Does anyone have any idea why my login credentials won't work?
I'm trying to add my VirginMedia account to AOMEI so I can back up my emails, but I cannot get it to accept my login credentials.
The email address and password I'm using when I try to add my VirginMedia account to AOMEI are the same I use to log in to my mail account at VM, and for the server details, I've tried imap.virginmedia.com and imap4.virginmedia.com.
Nothing works and I have no idea why. It's driving me mad. I just want to be able to use AOMEI to make a copy of my emails so I can get the hell out of VirginMedia for good and restart my emails in Namecheap (or anywhere that isn't bloody VirginMedia).
Thanks!

Hey exercess, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community I am sorry to hear this.
This could be because of a security issue with the website not allowing it, I would back up all your emails and just forward them all to it.
I would try a different site than this one to see if that works. Cheers

It may seem strange but entering the same password into AOMEI that you use to log into the mail account on the VM website is the problem!
Virgin Media recently made a change to their email service which means that you now have to generate a mail app specific password to use instead of your webmail password when accessing that email address via any third party email apps. Sadly VM have not really publicised that change.
Effectively AOMEI is acting as an email app so you need to generate a mail app password for your VM email account.
Sign in from this link https://my.virginmedia.com/home/signIn using your VM email address and existing webmail password of the account.. That will take you to the relevant "My Virgin Media" account for that email address.
Then click on the "Account settings" tab and then the "Account details" tab. Scroll down the "Accounts details" page to "Mailbox app password management." and click on "Manage".
You can then generate an app password which will be in the format: video-post-mossy-sharp
You will then need to enter that new app password (including the "-") into the password field in AOMEI and any other email apps that you use on other devices. You should still use the original password to access the VM account on the website.

BTW here are the full VM settings you should be using:
IMAP settings
Host Name: imap.virginmedia.com
Username: your full Virgin Media email address
Password: your Virgin Media email app password
Advanced settings
SSL Encryption: Enabled
Port: 993 (this may be automatically chosen by selecting SSL encryption
SMTP settings
Host Name: smtp.virginmedia.com
Username: your full Virgin Media email address
Password: your Virgin Media email app password
SSL Encryption: Enabled
Port: 465 (this might not be selected automating by enabling SSL, so please check)
Authentication: Password
I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media.
