Re: No emails since 15th june

Dont worry I'm in the same boat. No emails for a week. Password changed by VM 4 times. Rang everyday.

I even 'ping'd the imap.virginmedia.com servere last night. No connection.

I think they have been hacked. It is nothing to do with the 'upgrade' at all.

Re: SORRY Your mailbox is not available at the moment.

Hi -- I've had no email (both Apple Mail and Webmail) on one of my sub accounts for a week now...absolutely shocking service from Virgin Media on the phone, no one knows what is going on....

Anyway...my error message is: "Sorry! Mailbox unavailable. Please retry again in one hour..."

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Re: SORRY Your mailbox is not available at the moment.

Hi,

We are aware that some users may be experiencing issues accessing their email account via Webmail.

On accessing Webmail it brings up and error message advising "Your mailbox is not available at the moment"

If you are experiencing this specific issue and have not done so already, please private message the ModTeam account with the following information;

  • The email address(es) you can’t access
  • What error you're seeing on Webmail (feel free to provide a screenshot if this is available)
  • Are you able to use that address via a mail client (don’t worry about setting one up if you currently don’t use it)
  • Can you sign into My Virgin Media

This will allow us to investigate this issue in further detail.

Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates regarding this issue.

So from the fact that you're not getting a response when pinging - you infer they've been hacked?  How do you explain the fact that I can reach it then?

C:\Users\timdu>ping imap.virginmedia.com

Pinging imap.virginmedia.com [62.254.26.223] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 62.254.26.223: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=120
Reply from 62.254.26.223: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=120

Reply from 62.254.26.223: bytes=32 time=14ms TTL=120

Ping statistics for 62.254.26.223:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 14ms, Maximum = 17ms, Average = 15ms

Now I'll concede that it's possible that you're not getting a connection from your part of the Virgin Media network.  BUT If that's the case - then your problem is completely different from those who can get a connection and are being told their password is wrong.

So if you are still getting no response when pinging then please post up a traceroute to imap.virginmedia.com

Here's mine:

Re: Email problem

Received a private message from virgin support via https://community.virginmedia.com/ asking for email address etc and they have now fixed the problem.

email via webmail and outlook / ipad working again. They asked that the password be changed again so sounds like something was breached / compromised.

None the less thanks VM for finally addressing the problem ... only took a week 🙂

I can think of at least one scenario where a password change would be instrumental in fixing the issue you had described. While obviously not impossible, there's currently no real reason to assume that VM has suffered from any form of hack or accounts being compromised.
