SMTP not responding over mobile data

I am unable to send email via smtp.virginmedia.com when connected to mobile data but it is fine when on WiFi at home. I get a message saying invalid username/password but that can’t be right as the same device can send when on WiFi.

Receiving email is ok on both connections

Has anybody experienced the same issue and has a solution, please?

It may be that the IP address used by the mobile data connection is being blacklisted.

Thanks for the update, Graham. The odd thing is that I am on O2 and my daughter is on EE and we both have the same issue. In fact the whole family with virgin.net addresses can send when on WiFi but not when using the mobile networks we are on

Hey JonnySniper and welcome to the community.

 

Sorry to hear that yourself and your family have been having issues sending emails over mobile data.

 

Are you all still having the issues with your email accounts? If you're still having issues, please can you advise if you can send emails via webmail whilst on mobile data?

Hi Steven,

Thank you for you tip. Fortunately this problem has resolved itself.

To me it seemed like DNS issue but whatever it was is sorted.
